The department is one of the oldest and biggest department of Commerce in Marathwada & SRTM University region established in 1961. It has an excellent research centre in Commerce & Management, Computers with Internet facilities, library services etc.

The Department takes initiative in university’s various programmes and schemes. At least a single Interdisciplinary programme (Conference, workshop, seminar, Ph.D. course work etc.) is arranged in a year. Effective use of ICT tools by teachers for TLE, Unique events for students (Verve- Management Skills, Financial Literacy, Avishkar-Research, Aanand Nagri-Marketing, College Day-Teaching tec. is done. UGC NET/SET Coaching centre is the special features of the department.

Shri. S. V. Karve was the founder head of the department.  Dr. Rajaram Pawar has provided his services as the Chairman, Board of Studies in Accounts & Applied Statistics, SRTM University, Nanded.  He became a member of the Academic Council, Research Recognition Committee (RRC), Faculty of Commerce & Management. Dr. Manisha S. Ashtekar nominated as a Member of Board of Studies in Business Studies under the faculty of Commerce & Management in SRTM University, Nanded.

Commerce Department offers different specialised B.Com and M.Com programmes with Specializations in Marketing Management, Human Resource Management, Foreign Trade, Computer Application, Banking & Insurance, Accounting & Taxation and Management & Entrepreneurship
